The Politico reported Thursday that the video -- created in part by a leading conservative talk radio producer -- splices together clips of Obama's former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, making what some have called racially charged statements.

The video, titled "Is Obama Wright," had received more than 38,000 views on YouTube by Wednesday evening, Politico said.

The video by Lee Habeeb also features footage of Malcolm X and the 1968 U.S. Olympians who raised their hand in the black power salute.

Habeeb is the director of strategic content at Salem Radio Network, the conservative talk radio company that airs programs hosted by such figures as former U.S. Secretary of Education Bill Bennett and Chapman University Law School Professor Hugh Hewitt.

"I'm trying to join the YouTube generation and have some fun," Habeeb said. "We wanted to see if we could get in circulation."

When asked by Politico if he believes Obama is a patriotic American, Habeeb said "absolutely," but added "his patriotism is not my kind of patriotism.

"I believe he is hiding his Marxism from the American people," Habeeb said.
