GAZA, March 13 (UPI) -- Militants said Israel's targeting of five Islamic Jihad commanders triggered Qassam rocket fire from Gaza at Israeli targets Thursday.

Three of the rockets landed in Sderot, causing damage at a school and a warehouse, reported DEBKAfile, a military intelligence Web site. One person was injured.

The five commanders were killed in clashes earlier in the week with Israeli forces. In Bethlehem, undercover Israeli forces Wednesday killed Bethlehem chief Mohammed Shehadeh, along with Imad Kemal, Issa Marzoura and al-Aqsa Brigades operative Ahmed Balful. In another part of the West Bank, an Israeli force killed the Islamic Jihad's Tulkarm commander.

A spokesman for the terrorist organization said Israel was "destroying all efforts invested in reaching truce in occupied Palestine."

Israel's national high terror alert remained in place for the seventh day, Ynetnews.com reported. It was imposed after eight students were killed by a Palestinian gunman at the Mercaz Harav yeshiva in Jerusalem.
