QUITO, Ecuador, March 11 (UPI) -- Leaders from the Organization of American States reportedly have visited the site where a commander of a Colombian rebel group was killed.

The team, including OAS Secretary-General Jose Manuel Insulza, were on hand at the site in Ecuador where Colombian forces killed rebel commander Raul Reyes and more than two dozen members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, El Comercio reported Tuesday.

The incursion by Colombia into Ecuador without Quito's permission set off a diplomatic firestorm that prompted both Ecuador and Venezuela to sever diplomatic relations with Colombian and send troops to their borders.

Tensions were later quelled at a diplomatic summit in the Dominican Republic last week.

The OAS is to report its findings in the matter March 17.
