Putin warns his successor is no push-over

MOSCOW, March 8 (UPI) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the international community his successor will bring strong convictions to the diplomatic arena.
Putin said President-elect Dmitry Medvedev will protect Russia's interests, calling him a "Russian nationalist," ITAR-TASS reported Saturday.
"Dmitry Medvedev will be free of proving his liberal views," Putin said. "But he is in a good sense Russian nationalist no less than me and it will not be easier to work with him. He will most actively protect the interests of the Russian Federation."
After winning a landslide election, Medvedev will be inaugurated May 7.
