LOS LUNAS, N.M., Feb. 13 (UPI) -- An Isleta Pueblo, N.M., police officer has expressed displeasure with the probation sentences given to two men convicted of lacing his hamburger with pot.

Henry Gabaldon, who ate the marijuana-laced burgers with another officer, said both he and the second officer got high from the food and could have caused harm to themselves or others, KRQE-TV, Albuquerque, N.M., reported Wednesday.

The burgers were purchased at a Burger King restaurant that employed Justin Armijo and Robert Nuckols, who both received probation sentences in lieu of jail after pleading guilty to the crime.

Gabaldon said the sentences sent the message that harm to police comes with no consequences.

"The message was it's OK to hurt an officer," Gabaldon said.

District Judge John Pope said he can understand how the sentences he imposed could upset the officers, but he would rather the convicts see the error of their ways and move on with their lives.

"I don't blame them for being mad at me," Pope said of the officers.
