Sarah Everson was sentenced Monday after she and her husband, Kris, failed to make restitution payments, missed court dates and moved out of the state for a time, The Kansas City Star said.

Kris Everson surrendered last fall and his wife was picked up by police in Independence last month.

The couple had been convicted in 2006 of stealing by deceit. They had concocted a story about having six babies to support and then pocketed thousands of dollars in donations from the public.
