The Washington Times said Sunday that major states that allow crossover primary voting, such as California and Missouri, are likely to see independents and even some Republicans casting votes for the Illinois senator.
Some one-time Republicans who stumped for Obama in South Carolina told the newspaper they were ready for a change.
The Times noted Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., has held a commanding lead in the polls in California, the biggest prize in the Feb. 5 "Super Tuesday" primaries.
