According to an unidentified source, the contender for the Democratic presidential nomination was indirectly referred to in a document from the corruption case against fundraiser Tony Rezko, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
The document is a 78-page statement from prosecutors in which they outline their corruption and fraud case against Rezko and refer to an unidentified "political candidate."
Rezko has been accused of forcing a firm to pay him $250,000 in relation to the group's work with state teacher pension investments in Illinois. The source said $10,000 of that money was later donated to Obama's run for the U.S. Senate, the Sun-Times reported.
Despite the allegations from the source that Obama is that unnamed "candidate," the Illinois senator has not been accused of any wrongdoing and is not named in a court document from the case.
