President George W. Bush is expected to use his State of the Union Address Jan. 28 to present ideas for stimulating the economy, The New York Times (NYSE:NYT) reported Saturday.

Bush last week acknowledged Americans were anxious about the economy.

The Republican president plans to meet, possibly next week, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, both Democrats, to trade ideas, the Times reported.

"Time will be of the essence," Henry M. Paulson Jr., the U.S. treasury secretary said Friday. "So I think we want to do something as quickly as possible if we do it."
