DES MOINES, Iowa, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- The tone of Democratic presidential contenders' campaign events range from regal to rock star in the final week before the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses.

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., rarely names her competitors and her stately events aren't called "rallies" but rather are framed individually – "Working for Change, Working for You," "Moms and Daughters Making History," "Time to Pick a President," The New York Times (NYSE:NYT) said.

During Barack Obama's "Stand for Change" tour, meanwhile, the U.S. senator from Illinois makes a big entrance and welcomes crowds like a real rock star might -- "Hello, Marshalltown!" the Times said.

Former Sen. John Edwards' events are boisterous and urge voters to send "a fighter into the arena," the paper said.
