JERUSALEM, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Israeli security officials said they have intelligence to suggest al-Qaida cells infiltrated Turkey and plan to target Israeli and U.S. interests in the region.

Israeli officials issued guidelines to its agencies and business interests operating in Turkey in the face of the new threat but didn't elaborate on the specifics.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said officials "have proof that al-Qaida is involved in the Palestinian terror activity and that "bin Laden's organization is combing forces with several extremist Palestinian groups," Ynetnews reported Monday.

''I would like to assure our people in Palestine that we will expand our jihad there. We intend to liberate Palestine, the whole of Palestine from the (Jordan) river to the sea," al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden said in Saturday's video message.

Olmert didn't suggest al-Qaida was collaborating with Hamas, however.
