Iran recasts report on U.S. jet

Sarkozy called on Syria to support the appointment of a consensus Lebanese president, the BBC reported Sunday.
"I ask Syria to ... work to create agreement," Sarkozy said.
Syria reportedly is backing pro-Syrian officials in Lebanon, which has been without an official head of state since November.
Thanks to France's involvement, the two sides did agree on army commander Gen. Michel Suleiman as a presidential candidate.
Yet despite that compromise candidate, the BBC said the two sides remain adamantly opposed regarding power sharing once Suleiman is in power.
