The Russian information agency Novosti reported the launch of the SS-N-23 Skiff from the Delta IV-class K-114 Tula nuclear submarine -- the second in as many weeks -- targeted a site on the Kamchatka Peninsula.
"The launch has been conducted from an underwater position," Navy spokesman Igor Drygalo said. "A simulated warhead reached the target at the Kura testing ground at the designated time."
The Skiff is designed to replace the RSM-24 commissioned 18 years ago, Itar-Tass reported.
Russia also tested an RS-24 multiple-reentry ballistic missile from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, spokesman for the Strategic Missile Forces Alexander Vovk told Itar-Tass.
