Plame says CIA hurt by her outing

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Former CIA operative Valerie Plame said U.S. President George Bush's failure to fire anyone for leaking her identity shows he is not a man of his word.

In an interview with CBS's Katie Couric to be broadcast Sunday, Plame said the president promised to fire anyone in his administration found to be involved in the leak, CBS reported Friday.

Though no one ended up being fired, an investigation by a special prosecutor resulted in a perjury and obstruction of justice conviction against U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff Lewis Libby.

Plame told Couric she has learned that revealing her identity caused serious damage to the clandestine service.

"(The leak) is very serious," she said. "It puts in danger, if not shuts down, the operations that I had worked on."

Plame has written a book on the incident, published by Simon and Shuster which is owned by CBS Corp. (NYSE:CBS)
