The blast occurred outside a restaurant in Taji, about 12 miles north of Baghdad, Interior Ministry officials said. Many of the injured suffered lung injuries from the chlorine, which causes a spontaneous secretion of mucous in the lungs and difficulty breathing.
In Baghdad, two bombings killed at least 11 people and wounded 18 others. The first was outside a gas station, while the second targeted a market, CNN reported.
U.S. military officials said three U.S. troops were killed by a roadside bomb in southwest Baghdad and two more died in a suicide car bombing targeting a new combat outpost north of the city, the BBC reported. CNN said eight Iraqi police officers were killed in the attacks as well.
Interior Ministry officials said 20 bodies had been found scattered around Baghdad on Monday, the result of sectarian Shiite and Sunni Muslim fighting.
