PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Two election workers of the Organization of American States have been kidnapped in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, along with one of their wives, the BBC reports.

A Canadian member of the U.N. peace-keeping force was shot to death last week.

Twenty people were arrested Thursday for involvement in recent kidnappings.

The violence is linked to a group backing Aristide as well as a group supporting interim leader Gerard Latortue.

The democratically-elected Aristide was forced from power in 2004 and not allowed back.

The election, postponed numerous times to the most recent Jan. 8 date, has now been pushed back again.

Pierre Richard Duchemin of the electoral council said officials couldn't "guarantee honest and credible elections can be held."
