COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Doing its part to help survivors of the deadly tsunami, a Sri Lankan brewery has switched from making beer to bottling water.

In the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, a Lion Brewery plant has produced 120,000 bottles of water so far for shipment to the affected areas, The Australian reported Friday.

The brewery is working in cooperation with the relief group Oxfam International.

"With so much loss of life, how could you not help?" brewery manager Nausha Raheem said.

Sri Lanka was hit hard by the tsunami. Nearly 28,500 have been confirmed dead in the island nation, the BBC reported Friday.
