Two car bombs exploded in the Saudi capital Riyadh Wednesday evening, killing one bystander. Nine militants were killed later in gunbattles when security forces raided their hideouts.

The State Department said the American Embassy does not appear to have been targeted "and we have received no reports of American citizens injured in the attacks."
