MLB: Chi. Cubs 3, Arizona 1

CHICAGO, May 9 (UPI) -- Ted Lilly and two relievers combined on a four-hitter Friday to boost the Chicago Cubs to a 3-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Lilly (3-4) surrendered an earned run and three hits over seven innings with two walks and 10 strikeouts.

He shook off a solo home run by Arizona's Chris Young in the top of the first to record the third win in his last four starts and added a game-tying RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

Alfonso Soriano hit an RBI double in the fifth and Derrek Lee hit a solo homer in the eighth.

Carlos Marmol gave up a hit in the eighth and Kerry Wood earned his sixth save.

Mark DeRosa had two of the seven hits for the Cubs, who have won two of three.

Three others had one hit for the Diamondbacks, who have split their last four games.

Losing pitcher Dan Haren (4-2) surrendered two earned runs and five hits in seven innings.
