Eugenio Velez's fielding error in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday allowed the Philadelphia Phillies to edge San Francisco 6-5.
Ryan Howard scored the winning run when Velez booted Geoff Jenkins' grounder.
Philadelphia tied the score 5-5 on a solo homer by Carlos Ruiz the bottom of the eighth.
Pat Burrell had two hits and two RBI.
Shane Victorino had two hits while a fifth-inning run scored on one of two wild pitches by Giants' starter Tim Lincecum for the Phillies, who won twice in three-game weekend series.
The winner was closer Brad Lidge (1-0) after a scoreless ninth inning.
San Francisco's Rich Aurilia had three hits, one a two-run homer in the sixth, and three RBI.
Jose Castillo had two hits and two RBI, while Aaron Rowand and Randy Winn had two hits for the Giants, who committed three costly errors.
