BOSTON, March 27 (UPI) -- Phil Kessel, Glenn Murray and Peter Schaefer scored third-period goals Thursday night to lead the Boston Bruins to a 4-2 victory over Toronto.

With the score tied 1-1, Kessel put the Bruins in for good at 5:47 of the third with his 18th goal of the season. Murray scored his 17th on the power play at 10:54 and Schafer scored his ninth at 15:24.

Marco Sturm scored a goal, David Krejci had two assists and Kessel had one, while Tim Thomas made 30 saves on 32 shots for the Bruins, whose victory eliminated the Maple Leafs from the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

With 88 points, the Bruins trail both Ottawa and Montreal in the Northeast Division.

Toronto got goals from Jiri Tlusty in the second and Pavel Kubina (power play) in the third.

Vesa Toskala yielded four goals on 33 shots for the Maple Leafs, whose second straight loss ended their playoff chances in what might have been the last contest for longtime center Mats Sundin in a Toronto uniform.
