PARIS, March 25 (UPI) --
Soccer star David Beckham has been given a spot on the English team's roster Wednesday against France, which would be his 100th international match.
Beckham missed on a chance to reach the milestone last month when England Coach Fabio Capello kept him off the roster, saying Beckham wasn't "match fit."
But Tuesday, Capello included Beckham on his roster for Wednesday. He didn't say if the midfielder would start the game or be held in reserve.
"I would not have asked David to travel all the way from Los Angeles if I was not to play him," Capello said. "I know David and I know what he can give. He can make the difference in many respects."
Capello suggested Beckham, 32, could still be with the team for the 2010 World Cup.
Beckham would be the fifth player to play at least 100 international games for England. Peter Shilton, with 125 appearances, is the record holder while Bobby Moore (108 games), Bobby Charlton (106) and Billy Wright (105) have also reached that mark.
Last year, Beckham signed a lucrative long-term contract with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy.
