MLB sets playoff schedule
Friday, October 10
The Plain Dealer, a Cleveland newspaper, cited Crennel's agent as saying the deal was worth about $4 million a season. Crennel had two years remaining on his existing contract and is now tied to the Browns through the 2011 season.
"We're pleased to get this two-year extension done with Romeo Crennel," Browns General Manager Phil Savage said Tuesday. "Romeo has the respect of the players, gets along well with everyone in the organization and has proven that he can be a winning NFL head coach."
In three years as the Browns' coach, Crennel has built a 20-28 record, including a 10-6 mark in 2007 when the team just missed qualifying for the playoffs.
