BOSTON, Dec. 31 (UPI) --
A goal by Mark Stuart midway through the second period allowed the Boston Bruins to take the lead and defeat the Atlanta Thrashers 5-2 Monday.
Dennis Wideman, P.J. Axelsson, Phil Kessel and Matt Lashoff also put up scores for the Bruins, who snapped a six-game losing streak.
Zdeno Chara chipped in with a pair of assists in the win.
Tim Thomas stopped 28 out of 30 shots for Boston.
Bobby Holik and Colin Stuart scored goals for the Thrashers, who have dropped three of four after winning four straight.
Kari Lehtonen made 32 saves in the loss.
