NBA: Boston 104, Utah 98

SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Paul Pierce had 24 points and six rebounds Saturday to help the Boston Celtics rally past the Utah Jazz 104-98.

Boston out-scored Utah 55-42 in the second half to overcome a 56-49 halftime deficit.

Ray Allen had 23 points, four rebounds and three assists. Kevin Garnett had 15 points and nine rebounds.

Kendrick Perkins had 11 points and nine rebounds, while Tony Allen scored 10 points for the Celtics, who improved their NBA-best record to 25-3 by using a 21-8 spurt bridging the third and fourth quarters before holding off a late Utah charge.

Utah was led by Deron Williams' 22 points and 11 assists. Carlos Boozer had 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Mehmet Okur had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists, while C.J. Miles and Matt Harpring scored 11 apiece for the Jazz, who have lost two straight and five of their last seven games.
