The Detroit native opted for the hometown Pistons over the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks, and he cleared waivers Tuesday.

Webber was cut loose by Philadelphia after injuries limited him to just 18 games. He averaged 11 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game, however, making him a potential contributor either as a starter or off the bench.

"Chris has been an all-star caliber player in the league for a long time and we feel that he will help strengthen our front-line while providing stability and leadership on the court and in the locker room," explained Pistons executive Joe Dumars.
