BALTIMORE, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Baltimore Ravens quarterback coach Rick Neuheisel was promoted to offensive coordinator but head coach Brian Billick will continue to call the plays.

The Ravens said Monday that Neuheisel would continue most of his current duties, including running offensive team meetings and handling the Baltimore quarterbacks.

Billick took over the play-calling duties after he fired offensive coordinator Jim Fassel six games into last season. The offense responded under Billick, winning nine of its last 10 games and posting the second-best record in the AFC. The Ravens, however, lost an NFL playoff game to Indianapolis last weekend when they scored just two field goals in a 15-6 loss.

Neuheisel has 15 years of coaching experience, including the past two seasons in Baltimore. He was the head coach at Washington and Colorado in the collegiate ranks.
