OTTAWA, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Daniel Alfredsson scored the only goal Friday night as Ottawa beat the New York Rangers, 1-0.

His 10th goal of the season came after only 32 seconds had elapsed in the contest.

Ray Emery stopped all 27 Rangers shots to record his second straight shutout for the Senators, who have split their last four games.

Emery has not given up a goal in nearly 132 minutes.

It is his best personal streak in goal.

Henrik Lundqvist allowed a goal on the game's first shot, but managed to make 27 saves on 28 shots overall for the Rangers, whose losing streak grew to seven games in a row.

On the power play, Ottawa was 0-for-2; and the Rangers went 0-for-6.
