Neil Parry selected for all-star game

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- San Jose State's Neil Parry, whose right leg was amputated almost three years ago, will participate in the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 10.
Parry's leg was amputated following an injury on Oct. 14, 2000. He returned to the field in the fourth quarter against Nevada on Sept. 18, 2003 as part of the Spartans' punt return team.
"To have Neil in our game is very special," East-West Shrine Game executive director Jack Hart said. "Neil is an inspiration to all of us, but especially to the children of the Shriners Hospitals."
The 24-year-old Parry is a fifth-year senior.
"The East-West Shrine game gives me the opportunity to help out the kids who have experienced something similar or worse than I've gone through," he said.
