SPOKANE, Wash., Dec. 31 (UPI) --
Ronny Turiaf and freshman Adam Morrison each scored 15 points Wednesday night as No. 18 Gonzaga blasted Eastern Washington, 70-49.
Gonzaga (9-2) improved to 2-0 at the Spokane Arena, away from its cozy gym on campus. The sellout crowd was treated to another display of the team-oriented basketball that improved the Bulldogs' mark to 3-0 against Washington opponents.
Turiaf's basket capped an 18-4 tear that opened a 25-11 advantage with just under seven minutes left before halftime. Turiaf and Morrison each had 10 points at the break as the Bulldogs extended the lead to 41-21.
Eastern Washington (3-9) has lost 18 straight meetings with Gonzaga. The Eagles blew a 17-point lead in last season's 67-64 defeat and squandered a 16-point lead two seasons ago.© 2003 United Press International. All Rights Reserved.
