Ground beef products are recalled

WASHINGTON, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall of 188,000 pounds of ground beef products due to possible contamination.

The FSIS said the Rochester Meat Co. of Rochester, Minn., initiated the voluntary recall after it was determined the ground beef might be contaminated with an E. coli bacterium. The problem was discovered after five illnesses were reported in Wisconsin and one in California.

The ground beef products were distributed nationwide to restaurants and food service institutions and weren't available for purchase in retail establishments.

Consumers with questions can contact the company at 507-529-4759.

GALAXY COLLIDE NASA
This undated NASA image shows two galaxies that are slowly colliding and possibly, in hundreds of millions of years, only one galaxy will remain. Although it is likely that no stars in the two galaxies will directly collide, the gas, dust and ambient magnetic fields do interact directly. These galaxies, part of the vast Hydra-Centaurus supercluster of galaxies, spans over 100 thousand light-years across and is located about 100 million light-years away.
