Micro-machines can get boost from UV rays

EDINBURGH, Scotland, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Microscopic engines that will drive the devices of the future can be sent into overdrive with pulses of ultraviolet light, an international research team reports. A booster using UV light could propel rotors a tenth the size of viruses to operate pulleys in synthetic muscles.
