WASHINGTON, April 22 (UPI) --
Cellular telephones do not appear to increase the risk of a type of tumor that occurs in the ear, although additional studies may be necessary before the phones can be given a clean bill of health, researchers announced Monday. Ninety acoustic neuroma patients and 86 people who did not have the tumor were surveyed on their years of cell phone use, minutes of use per month and the manufacturer of their phones. Researchers found the risk of developing the tumor was unrelated to how often or how long the patients had used cell phones.© 2002 United Press International. All Rights Reserved.
