Cell phones not linked to ear tumor

Published: April 22, 2002 at 4:07 PM
WASHINGTON, April 22 (UPI) -- Cellular telephones do not appear to increase the risk of a type of tumor that occurs in the ear, although additional studies may be necessary before the phones can be given a clean bill of health, researchers announced Monday. Ninety acoustic neuroma patients and 86 people who did not have the tumor were surveyed on their years of cell phone use, minutes of use per month and the manufacturer of their phones. Researchers found the risk of developing the tumor was unrelated to how often or how long the patients had used cell phones.

GALAXY COLLIDE NASA
This undated NASA image shows two galaxies that are slowly colliding and possibly, in hundreds of millions of years, only one galaxy will remain. Although it is likely that no stars in the two galaxies will directly collide, the gas, dust and ambient magnetic fields do interact directly. These galaxies, part of the vast Hydra-Centaurus supercluster of galaxies, spans over 100 thousand light-years across and is located about 100 million light-years away.
