NEW YORK, May 29 (UPI) -- Rules were "put in place" at New York's Metropolitan Opera House after the swanky theater was given several citations for "evidence of mice," a spokesman says.

The theater has been targeted by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for violating pest control regulations, the New York Post reported Thursday.

The opera house received 13 notices April 9 for "evidence of mice or live mice present in (the) facility's food and/or non-food areas," the department said.

Greg Deligdish, a spokesman for the Patina Group, which operates the theater's Grand Tier Restaurant, said "procedures were put in place" after the mouse infestation was brought up.

He added that the building was inspected Wednesday and is mouse-free.
