School officials said the food fight broke out at Peeples Middle School after a student threw a carton of milk across the cafeteria, cuing 13 other students to join the lunchtime battle, WAPT-TV, Jackson, reported Thursday.

Officials with Jackson Public Schools have recommended all 14 students involved in the incident, which lasted only 30 seconds, be suspended. The officials also recommended all of the students be arrested, but police only took four students into custody.

The school year ends Friday in Jackson.
