ST. LEVAN, England, March 28 (UPI) -- A St. Levan, England, woman said she is not angry with a fox that devoured her chickens on two separate occasions.
Terri Strick was trying to harvest some eggs for breakfast one day this month when she discovered a plump, lazy fox relaxing in her chicken coop amid a scattered array of bloody feathers, The Daily Mail (Britain) reported.
The hungry fox, which Strick dubbed Basil, had eaten a half dozen chickens from the coop in the previous week and had apparently come back to finish his large meal.
The fox must have eaten more than it could handle because it remained lazing around in the chicken coop all day, despite people constantly arriving to get a peak at him.
"It's nature I suppose. If you live in the country it's what you have to put up with," Strick said.
Crain's bites for Trump hoax
CHICAGO, March 28 (UPI) -- Crain's Chicago Business says it fell for an early April Fool's Day joke about Donald Trump buying an interest in Time Out Chicago magazine.
Time Out Chicago hand-delivered a press release Tuesday saying the real estate mogul had bought a controlling interest in the publication, and included a copy of the March 27 issue with a photo of a grinning Trump on the cover, Crain's said.
The photo had the headline, "Our New Owner."
"We thought people would realize this was a parody issue," said Tony Barnett, marketing director for Time Out Chicago, Crain's reported. "That's why we didn't send out the press release without the magazine."
Unable to reach a magazine official to check on the report, Crain's posted a story on its Web site Tuesday evening under the headline "Time Out Chicago gets Trumped" -- but said later it was the one that got "trumped."
Poodle dog tired after 16-puppy litter
CHILLIWACK, British Columbia, March 28 (UPI) -- A standard poodle in Chilliwack, British Columbia, had an anything-but-standard litter of puppies, delivering a record 16 little pups.
Charlie, named after the popular TV show "Charlie's Angels," began the birthing process around dinner time March 17 -- St. Patrick's Day -- and didn't finish until the afternoon of March 18, The Province newspaper in Vancouver reported.
Final score: Females 10, males six.
"I was up for 23 hours straight," said Charlie's owner, Deborah Bridgman, a dog breeder and pet shop owner in Chilliwack.
"There was lots of green fluid, and that's typical in birthing," Bridgman said. "I could've done with a green beer halfway through it, I tell you."
Canadian Kennel Club spokesman Andrew Patton confirmed that 16 puppies is a Canadian record for poodles, eclipsing the previous record of 14 set in 2005.
Bridgman said she thinks Charlie also set a world record for standard poodles, but she is awaiting confirmation from the Guinness World Records.
Bank robbed by male cross-dresser
CLEVELAND, March 28 (UPI) -- Investigators in Cleveland were searching for a man who robbed a US Bank branch while dressed as a woman.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation said a teller described the suspect as a black man wearing a shoulder-length wig and false fingernails, WEWS-TV in Cleveland reported.
Authorities said the man handed the teller a note that demanded money. It was not revealed how much money was taken from the bank, the report said.
