NEW YORK, March 12 (UPI) --
Vendors quickly capitalized on New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's sex scandal involving a high-priced prostitution ring, which led to his resignation.
A quick "Eliot Spitzer" search on CafePress' Web site turned up T-shirts proclaiming "Spitzer is Just Impeachy," the Gothamist, an Internet blog, reported. Spitzer resigned Wednesday after the link became public 48 hours earlier.
"It's a great way for people to express themselves," said Sara Doepke, a spokeswoman for CafePress.com, the online store based in California.
A search on "Client 9," as Spitzer was identified in the federal documents, turns up T-shirts with the moniker and a lipstick kiss.
On the virtual side, domain names associated with the scandal are being gobbled up as well, ranging from variations on Client9.com to references to the Washington hotel room where the rendezvous occurred.
Spitzer's fall from grace also provided late-night talk show hosts several minutes of material.© 2008 United Press International. All Rights Reserved.
