$500 reward offered for cat lost in subway

NEW YORK, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- A New York animal rescue group is offering $500 for the return of a cat that ran into a city subway tunnel.

The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals said the 6-month-old black cat, named Georgia, sprang from her traveling case when her owner, Ashley Phillips, set the carrier down on the platform of the No. 6 train station at 59th Sreet, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

Phillips said the cat jumped onto the tracks and disappeared down the tunnel.

The owner said that despite the reward being offered, she is no longer hopeful that her kitten will be returned.

"I'm glad people are still looking and hoping she can be found, but I'm pretty resigned that she is gone," Phillips said.
