Anne Cohen said she saved hand-delivered leaflets starting Jan. 1, 2007, and shoved every piece onto a spike in her front garden, the Daily Mail reported Thursday. She said she needed a kitchen chair to add the last three months of mail to her pile.
Cohen said her displayed collection shows how homeowners are bombarded with advertisements. She said every item was dropped off by hand, none delivered by Royal Mail.
"It's amazing when you see how much material is there," she told the Daily Mail. "It is such a waste of paper, inks and energy as most people just pick this sort of stuff up by the armful and bin it."
Cohen said she hoped the spike will be displayed in a gallery.
"You would think that people delivering the leaflets wouldn't put them through the door when they see the spike, but they still do," she said.
