NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Police say harried parents packed for a trip mistakenly left their 6-month-old baby at a New Jersey train station, each thinking the other had infant.

The baby was left in a stroller on the platform of the New Brunswick station Saturday when the parents boarded the train, each carrying luggage, the New Jersey Star-Ledger in Newark reported Sunday.

As the train pulled out at about 6:30 a.m., the parents saw the baby wasn't on board and notified a conductor, who called police, who kept watch on the baby until the father could get off at the next stop and take a cab back to fetch the baby, said New Brunswick police Sgt. Michael Bacorn.

The baby was unharmed and no charges were filed against the parents, whose names were not released, the Star-Ledger reported.
