LANDSKRONA, Sweden, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- A couple outside Landskrona, Sweden, have been reunited with their dog, which was abducted and eventually found nearly 250 miles away from home.

Ulf Sorenson and Ewa Peterson said they were ecstatic their hunting dog Enya had been located after having gone missing for more than a week, The Local reported Saturday.

"We were so happy," Sorenson said. "She is our favorite little family member."

The dog had been abducted from a kennel Nov. 15 while the couple was running errands and in the following days no sign of their beloved pet was found.

But last Friday, Sorenson said they learned from police that their dog had been found hundreds of miles away.

"They told me I had to go far," Sorenson said. "I can't believe how far he had taken her, but I would have driven anywhere to get her."

The animal had apparently been abducted by an Irish truck driver, who police connected to the crime through a series of tips, The Local said.
