NEW CASTLE, Ind., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- New Castle Chrysler High School in Indiana is dropping the Chrysler now that the auto company has sold its plant in the city.
The New Castle Community School Board voted 3-2 Monday night for the change, The Muncie Star-Press reported. Three years ago, when the Chrysler decision was fresh, the board voted the other way.
This time, there was little discussion.
"I don't see the point in changing," said Ann Stamps, a local resident who was one of the few people to speak at the meeting. "Is nothing forever?"
Rob Shone, the only new board member since the previous vote, said that he asked his two children, who both graduated from the high school. Neither appeared to care much but came down on the side of change.
The name change will become official on July 1, 2011.
Chrysler sold its plant to Metaldyne, a Japanese company.
