Miami firefighters revive pet poodle

Published: July 16, 2007 at 3:40 PM
MIAMI, July 16 (UPI) -- A pet poodle trapped in a burning building in the Miami-area was rescued and revived by firefighters using an IV and an oxygen mask.

The poodle, named Cookie, had passed out from the smoke at the burning home while the owners were away, the Miami Herald reported Monday.

Three fire trucks and a fire rescue unit with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and entered the house by breaking through the front door and sawing an entrance through the garage door. Cookie was found by firefighter Orestes Gonzalez, taken outside and revived.

The fire broke out shortly before 8 a.m. Monday morning.
