Police say skip the line about 2 beers

WASHINGTON, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Police officers say there's one line they've heard so many times from drivers it's a joke -- "I've only had two beers."

When officers write up their arrest reports, the line is likely to be translated as "the operator admitted consuming alcohol." Virginia State Trooper L.L. Parker, a 20-year veteran, told the Washington Post she has heard the line more times than she can remember.

"I don't know of any officer out here who, if you tell them you only had two beers, they'll tell you, 'Okay, then, have a nice night,'" Parker said. "But drunks, for whatever reason, they say it all the time."
