SAYVILLE, N.Y., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Residents of a Long Island town have posed nearly nude for a calendar to raise funds for a local park.

So far the "Model Community" calendar has sold more 1,000 copies at $11 apiece, Newsday reports.

The money will go to upgrade Common Ground, a park created in Sayville, N.Y., after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The idea for residents to pose nude or with objects in certain spots came at a Rotary Club meeting. Weeks & Reichel Printing donated its work, thanks to 48-year-old Robert Reichel, aka Mr. September.

A local photography studio donated its time.

The idea was slow to catch on but eventually community members decided to strip. Fifty-seven year-old police officer Joel Reines may now be remembered as Mr. May, and 68-year-old Anne Dunphy, a retired nurse, is Ms. February.
