FLINT, Mich., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Police in Flint, Mich. say a well-liked fifth-grade teacher has been fingered as the "Tweety Bird robber" responsible for as many as seven bank robberies.

Teresa Baird, 40, remained in the Genesee County Jail Saturday in lieu of $1.5 million bond, the Flint Journal reported.

Baird, who is married and has a teenage daughter, was described by other school employees as a well-liked, good teacher, the newspaper said.

However, was charged this week with six counts of bank robbery and police told the Journal she matches the suspect in a seventh robbery.

The suspect in most of the robberies carried out over a five-month period last spring and summer was a blond woman wearing a yellow Tweety Bird hat, which prompted police to dub her the "Tweety Bird" robber.

A request by Baird's attorney for a psychological evaluation will be considered by the court on Wednesday.
