NEW YORK, May 14 (UPI) -- The British rock band Coldplay and U.S. pop group The Pussycat Dolls are to perform at the upcoming 2008 MTV Movie Awards show, MTV said Wednesday.

Both acts are to perform music from their upcoming albums at the June 1 event, which is to air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.

Coldplay is set to sing the single "Violet Hill" from its new album, "Viva La Vida," to be released June 17.

The Pussycat Dolls are scheduled to perform "When I Grow Up" from their upcoming, as-yet-untitled album, to be released this summer.

Comedian and actor Mike Myers has been named host of the awards show.
