NEW YORK, May 12 (UPI) -- A representative for the Broadway musical "The Little Mermaid" said an actor injured in an on-stage fall this weekend remains in the hospital.

Show spokesman Matt Polk told the New York Post that actor Adrian Bailey, a 51-year-old ensemble performer, was hospitalized following the accident, which happened shortly before the Saturday afternoon performance was to begin.

"The cast is very sad and concerned for Adrian," Polk told the Post.

The newspaper said Bailey sustained two broken wrists when he fell 20 feet through a trap door in a boat suspended over the stage. He underwent surgery Sunday to repair the damage.

A cast member who visited Bailey at Bellevue Hospital told the Post the injured actor is "doing OK."

"He's been sedated," the cast member said, adding that Bailey had also hurt his back in the fall.
