LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- John Wells, the executive producer of "ER," said he is inviting former cast members to return for the U.S. medical drama's upcoming 15th and final season.

And, although Oscar-winning film star George Clooney is welcome to reprise his role of Dr. Doug Ross, Wells said he understands Clooney is probably too busy to drop by.

"I love George, he's a friend, but I doubt he'd come back to the show," the New York Daily News said Wells recently told reporters. "A couple of other things have come up in his life ... and I think it's difficult for people who have been away from a character for a very long time to put that cloak of the character back on."

Wells said he does plan to contact "pretty much everybody" from the show's previous seasons to see if they want to come back to help wrap up the series.

"I hope at the very least we can get everyone together to talk about the experience of being on the show," the Daily News quoted Wells as saying. "I suspect people will be very up for doing that."
