British TV star Brian Wilde dead at 86

LONDON, March 20 (UPI) -- British television star Brian Wilde has died natural causes at 86, his son Andrew Wilde has confirmed.
Brian Wilde died in his sleep Wednesday night, his son said.
The actor was best known for his portrayals of Mr. Barrowclough in "Porridge" and Foggy on "Last of the Summer Wine."
The Daily Mail said Brian Wilde had not recovered from a fall he took about seven weeks ago.
"He will be sadly missed by colleagues and family alike. He brought a great deal of laughter into many people's lives," Brian Wilde's agent Nick Young told the newspaper.
"He was a fine actor to work with, very professional. He was an old-school actor -- you turned up, knew your lines and played them the very best you could," producer Alan J.W. Bell told the BBC. "He had an enormous warmth to the public when he was off the set. He didn't like to hobnob with the actors -- when there was a break, he preferred to go to a pub around the corner to meet the 'real' people."
